Another book I read seemed to do with just genuine facts about Japan. The average height of the people born there is 171 cm for men and 158 cm for women. It did say to have a world that sounded like Korea which I was confused about before realizing it was Korea and that was different. I think the sentence was something along the lines of "This is the average height of the people living in Japan". There was also mention of something called Hayama, which I learned is a town in Japan. I think my reading skills have gotten better, I'm picking up on a few more symbols now which makes me proud.

    This was a challenging book! It takes practice and you need to build stamina to read in Japanese. You are doing just that. Keep it up!

Katakana Chart

       Learning Katakana was a bit of a different experience from learning and writing Hiragana. The symbols are much sharper, with fewer loops and softer edges. I remember writing the letters and having to make fast strokes and hold the pencil in a certain way so that I didn't accidentally make the line too long or too short. As well as timing, I feel that went into making sure the letters were at the very least readable. I found the letters to be a bit harder to remember strangely enough, despite how simple the shapes appear to be. I do know that 'RO' looks like a little box and I find that cute and memorable. Like learning Hiragana, this is like learning to write basic words in English in preschool and kindergarten. Matching the shapes and symbols to the pictures shown again is humbling. I feel like a kid again. I find it weird that there have been two writing systems for, speaking mostly English all my life. I won't claim to understand it, but I don't shun it...

Shopping

  Shopping in Japan and here in America is fairly similar. You can still go to malls here despite the many dead ones and they have many shops to choose from. The mall in the special video I saw was much cooler than the one I went to. Three floors and it looks much newer than the one I'm used to. The one I go to seems like it hasn't had an update in years and the shops seem... shady. Maybe that's just the lighting. The Japanese mall has a bunch of cool shops as well, some you would expect and some you wouldn't. Toy stores, clothes stores, and restaurants are all expected. What I wasn't expecting was just an entire grocery store in the mall. That caught me off guard, you technically only expect clothes and whatnot in malls. There were also a lot of arcades which was very cool to see. There's a lot of cool stuff in malls and I wonder why malls where I live are so uninteresting. The only mall I can think of that's as interesting would be the Mall of America with...
